If you had created the human race, would you have been as patient and forgiving with us as GOD has been?
Overall we think GOD has been very open, caring and fair to us humans! God's seeming delay in bringing about the consummation of all things is a result not of indifference but of patience in waiting for all who will come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness."
Imagine if we were as open, caring and fair about our relationships, such as our marriages, friendships, politics, business etc. The world would be a pretty pleasant place to live in! Instead, nowadays we see only occasional faint glimmers of caring in a world that has become cynical, selfish, hateful and cold. Yet we all know that genuine unconditional love can melt even "a heart of stone". We can change this rather sad state of affairs. GOD would have us do so. Join GOD in this quest. It will be the most fulfilling and exciting thing you could ever do with your life! That's not our promise ... that's GOD's promise!
